    Hi all,

I’ve never set up SSL on a server before, but have been doing a bit of reading around the subject.

I understand that I have to acquire a SSL certificate, and that the certificate refers to a particular domain or subdomain.

There seem to be a few cheap places to buy a certificate, but surely there must be a way of generating one yourself?  We’re not interested in verified identity services, like verisign - just that certain pages of the site are encrypted.

If anyone can advise, or point me to a good step-by-step instructions set for setting up EE with SSL, that would be great.

    TIA,

    Jake.

I believe Startcom do free SSL certificates.

I found this quick overview quite helpful, as well as this one.

In all cases, a basic familarity with the UNIX commandline will be required. Nothing fancy, but logging in, moving files around, executing a few commands, perhaps changing permissions… you know how it is. Best of luck to you 😊

Thanks for these - they look perfect for what I’m after.  I’ll give ‘em a go.

    Cheers,
    Jake.
