I follow and learn EE (and wait for EE2) longtime.
after I see this restrict http://expressionengine.com/knowledge_base/article/myspace_blogservice/
I want to make free social network for my country..
I prepare to do add-ons for EE but license had restrict.
    anyway,I cheer EE.

A few years ago when social networks were all the rage this was discussed a little in the forums. I can’t speak for EE of course, but I believe they just decided it was a road they didn’t want to go down. Now it looks like that was a great choice.

There are still a few scripts out there to do it better than EE (a social network), like the blog hosting ones (bloghoster?), but it appears they suffer from poor support and aren’t even close to being anywhere near as robust or well developed as EE.

Good luck though in your project, I am sure you’ll find a good compromise if you try!

    Thank! for your information.
although I said goodbye,I still visit here and waiting EE2.0 with a little few hope on license restrict.
a lot of social network script but I still love EE because features of it.
if we have permission on modify EE to make social network(although we pay more),we can buy some engine to do add-ons features.
