Mark,
I have been wearing out my pen and my brain in the planning process. This gives me a lot more to help get it done though. I have bookmarked this post and will be back as I have questions.
Thanks for taking the time to share.

Hi Mark,
Truly great stuff. Thanks for sharing this terrific information. Givers definitely gain, and thanks for continually giving and sharing with the community (as so many others continually do as well). This is an awesome community.
I was wondering if you’ve ever tried to implement a weblog using SlideShowPro, interfacing with Simple Commerce, or do you prefer going the lightbox route? Just wondering what your take is on these two approaches (lightbox vs. ssp) for interfacing with the Simple Commerce module. I already have a slideshow working with SSP that is interfacing with the weblog via an xml file. I would like to interface this slideshow with the Simple Commerce module. I think either way should be doable since the images are all associated with the weblog, and it will just be a matter of displaying everything properly. The images would be the items for sale on the site. Anyhow, just wanted your take (or anyone else who wants to chime in).
Also, any issues using S3 with your setup or any pointers to be aware of when interfacing S3 with ee?
Thanks for your time.
Best Regards,
Andres

No problem at all. Whenever I can be of help I will be as are so many others like you said. 😊

I have used SlideShowPro before but not really with large galleries as I like to have more control over exactly what I show with the image such as descriptions and the like. It can be done but it just takes a lot more work that way I reckon.

To interface with the SCM I think that it would definitely be easier to go with a more HTML based approach as it will be a lot quicker to do what you need. It could be done with SlideShowPro but I do think there could possibly be some Actionscript that you would probably have to write into the Flash file to get it to do exactly what you want and to work at a much higher level.

See above 😉

No problems that I can think of. I am currently using S3 to store the very high-resolution image downloads on a site that I am developing and it handles these really well. Takes a load of the server too which is definitely a good thing. I know some people also use S3 to store all the images for the layout of sites too. I’m yet to do this but it would take another load off your server too which can only ever be a good thing.
Thanks for your time.

No problem at all. Anything else you need then just let me know.

Thanks a lot Mark! Great advice! If I do decide to integrate ssp with scm, I’ll let you know and post a solution for others who want to do the same thing.
Best,
Andres
