Updated template doesn't show on all pages

    Hi,

I have updated my CSS template. Changed some fonts. Even though most of the pages picked up on the change, some still show the old font style.

If I view the code on a page that doesn’t show the new font styles the css link shows:
    http://mydomain.com/?css=common/styles.v.1207717462
but the pages where styles did get the new look the link is:
    http://mydomain.com/?css=common/styles.v.1209028623

You can see what I mean on the development server: http://webflorist.ocsia.com/ and http://webflorist.ocsia.com/roses/. Roses section has an updated font for the phone number in the header, but the landing page shows the old font.

Does any one know why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance.

How are you calling the stylesheet in both cases? Might well be a cahing issue. Do you use page, template or tag caching?

    I use {stylesheet=common/styles}

Have you looked at the example pages? I’ve tried in 3 different browsers and they all show different fonts.

You could try using {path} instead of {stylesheet}, but I still think this is only a cacheing problem.

    Using {path} didn’t help.

If it came to the worst, you could use

    <a href="http://webflorist.ocsia.com/common/styles">http://webflorist.ocsia.com/common/styles</a>

But do try clearing caches first.

Nope. Tries clearing cache and changing to direct path to css as you suggested.

Have you tried looking at the pages? Do you see the difference in fonts on phone number in the header? Thank you.

Anton, what I’d do is to attach the css file the old fashioned way, as a separate file on the server. Outside of the database. Is that an option for you?

Also, are you on the most recent build/version of EE?

    Hi Sue,

The problem is that even if I make a change to the header file used on all the pages, it doesn’t make a change on the live site. For example, I have added “!” at the end of the site title (meta) and I can see the change on “About us”, but not on “Contact”.

I am on build 1.6.3. Have been using expression engine for a few months it’s the first time I experience something like this.

By header file, do you mean an embed?

Yes. {embed="common/header"} . And the “header” has a link to the css template.

Have you tried visiting “about us” and “contact” pages? Do you see different fonts for phone number in the header?

Anton, are you on the most recent build, and are you saving your templates as text files?

Fixed a bug (#4158) where browsers would retain old versions in cache for CSS templates saved as files

Yes, I am on 1.6.3. I never did save templates as files, but have tried that this morning with no luck.
