    Hi,

I’ve built a photo gallery contest using expression engine and for the first few weeks it was working great:

    Battistella Contest

Now we are experiencing some insanely slow load times on our gallery page and also a lot of our recent entries are simply not showing up.

We’ve had way more entries than we initially anticipated and the gallery page is getting pretty huge. I think the speed issues probably have something to do with the Imagesizer plugin we’re using to generate the thumbnails and lightbox images + the sheer amount of entries on the page.

With regards to the entries not showing up, I have no idea. We have built an admin section for the Battistella staff so they can approve photos. Entries are set to a status of ‘closed’ on submission. When the admins approve the photo they are essentially changing the status to ‘Approved’. Entries show up fine in the admin section before being approved. On approval they are now disappearing and not showing up in either the Gallery page or the admin page.

If I go into the control panel all the entries are there and the statuses have been successfully changed, and all the info is correct. Even if I manually publish entries they do not appear.

This has just started in the last day or two and every once in a while a couple entries will show up. So strange.

BTW we are using version 1.6.3.

    Thanks!

Okay, so I’ve successfully reduced page loading times by separating the past weeks to different pages, but I’m still having issues with some of the recent entries being displayed.

Some are displaying, while most aren’t.

    Ideas?

Which tag are you using to display them? Make sure the status=”” paramter is correct, and that the entries are neither expired, nor in the future (or use the relevant parameters).

I think I figured it out. Most of the tags and expiration dates seem correct (they’ve worked for all entries until this point).

The only one in question is the start-before/start-after tags I’m using to display entries. If I adjust the entry dates to one day earlier they start appearing. I have the correct time and time zone set in the control panel.

Maybe something to do with a server offset time or something?

I believe- but won’t swear- start_on/stop_before isn’t localizing the times.  If you look at the gmt_entry date- are things working according to that- instead of the localized entry_date?  That would be my bet.
