    Hi there.

i got a problem with loggin in at one of our sites.
the site is hosted via enginehosting. the system has been pre installed by the ellislab staff.

i tried to get help at enginehosting but they sent me here.

    Here’s the problem:

We have a serious problem with logging into our expressionengine backend
with our enginehosting hosted site. (the frontend is O.K.)

    The problem:
After submitting our Username and Password we are being redirected
to a blank white page while still not logged in.

also users are not be able to log into the frontend.
they are being redirected to the homepage without being logged in.
this is a serious problem since some of these users pay for extra content
which is only being displayed after log in.

There is no error message provided by the system.
    Also we havn’t chenged anything.

This is the URL it is giving me after i hit submit:
    http://my-domain.com/system/index.php?S=0&C=login&M=auth

also sometimes it is giving me the option: »Auto log-in on future visits?« sometimes not
which leads me to the assumption that something is happening behind the secenes …

Again: We have not made any changes since our last successful login.
I can not make any changes (i.e. cookie settings) since i am not be able to access the backend.
As you can imaging this is very urgent because of the paying cutomers.

    Help please.

    Best,
    marcus

marcus, you can manually edit the config.php file to force cookie settings.

    $conf['admin_session_type'] = "s";

See if that gets you back in again.

    Are you using the MSM?

    MSM is Multiple Site Manager.

Did anything change from one day to the next? Did you add any new users, update any code…?

Can you email me, not PM me the following: (Click on Profile, and email me from there)

Path to your EE control panel

A valid username/password combination that has access to the back end.

I’ll go take a quick look.

Well, you have a number of issues going on. You’re forcing query strings for some reason, although you don’t normally need to do that if you’re doing EngineHosting.

i don’t know what you mean with forcing query strings.
if i have done this, then it has happened accidentally.

klick, the easiest thing to do is to upgrade your version of EE to 1.6.3.

Doing that will ensure you’re on the most recent version.

If you could also send me your config.php file, I can see if there is something else in there that is causing the problem.

    Sue.

    I’m consider updating to 1.6.3.

I will get back to you if my problem persists or anything went wrong.

    best,
    marcus
