I just got onto twitter the other day and I’m looking to follow some EE users who twitter about EE or web design in general. links, tips, tricks etc…

    anyone on EE doing that?

I did find the official EE twitter, but it looks to be mostly announcements about updates.

my twitter is mostly about my current job (EFL teaching) so probably won’t be of much interest unless you are in the field. http://twitter.com/EFLGeek

There are plenty of EE people who Twitter. Some updates are protected, others aren’t. I have 2: masuga and masugadesign. You’ll probably find quite a few others linked off of mine, but that’s a start for you.

I’m gexla on Twitter.  I like it because it is a good way to let people know you are still alive.  Keeps your networks from going stale without having to bug people with email, phone or IM’s.

How do you manage to maintain two Twitters mdesign?! I didn’t even manage the one! ( as Gradualist)

[EDIT - ah, I see, you don’t manage to do the both of them regularly. I am reassured by this!]

Hmmm downside to requesting to follow someone is that there is no way to include a message to the requestee of who you are. I’ve requested to follow several EE twitterers, but my twitter id is not the same as my forum id and I can imagine that I’ll be ignored due to them not using it.

Hmmm.. maybe I’ll send a feature suggestion to twitter.

That’s the same problem I have.

Another idea might be an official EE twitter channel that aggregated all twitter users here.

That might beg the question of doing it for all the other social networks too though….

Just FYI…I’m re-thinking my twitter use and turned off protection.  Be forewarned that it’s experimental though..😉

I more recently started using Twitter after ignoring it for a year. It’s been great for keeping up to date on things happening around the web. Feel free to follow if you like. /caseyreid

I also maintain two Twitter accounts http://twitter.com/nonprofit_tech is more work related, and http://twitter.com/allgood2 is a bit more personal. You might get my what I had for breakfast, mixed in with nonprofit technology postings.

That doesn’t sound that inviting unfortunately 😉 I mean getting what you had for your breakfast 😉

Will add you to the ever-growing list though 😉

    Best wishes,

I don’t get the pull of twitter - I predict it will go the way of the dodo bird.

Who really cares about what someone else is doing to that degree? I figure folks who are really interested can find me (in more detail) elsewhere….but I do have a Twitter acct and I did have folks sign up to follow me….who knows, I could be wrong. But it does seem useless.

It’s not useless. It’s for ephemeral information. I’ve made some new contacts (Hi, Reese!), and probably know about some EE-related things before those who don’t Twitter. It’s a great way to inform people about quick updates to things (a la Leevi Graham and his EE add-ons) without writing a whole blog post. I had also never heard of a Flip camera before Twittering. Now I own one and use it daily.

I think the key is following the right people - and who those people are is entirely up to you. If you see Twitter as a big bunch of people all writing about what they had for breakfast, then you’re probably following the wrong Twitteristas.
