While trying to access my site this morning, I got the following detail when trying to access my admin panel:

    Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /system/index.php.

In addition, my site has no style info associated with it.

Any ideas?  I’m going to be pretty disappointed if I need to switch platforms at this point.

    Installation is/was 1.6.0.

    Thanks.

Hello DigiFiend, can you access your page normally, ie is that only happening for you CP or for the whole site? Do you have link to the site in question?

I have taken a look at your site, and it is actually offering me index.php for download, ie not parsing the PHP. The file looks OK, though, so this could very well be a hosting issue. Did you host make any changes to the server einvironment in the past few days? Have you asked them?

    Hi Ingmar:

Sorry if my first post was a bit standoffish, I’m just a bit annoyed (and surprised) that this has happened.  Of course, I’m not hearing anything from the hosting company.

While I can access my page (digifiend.com), none of the style info or dynamic links are working.  I have no access to my control panel with that error present.

Funny that my Windoze system just accepted the page, Ubuntu prompted me to accept the page for download.  Thanks so much for pointing that out, more ammo to point at the hosting company.  Assuming I get my data back, it might be time to switch to a different host (maybe even EE hosting).

    Thanks again!

I quite understand, I’d be as well. Have you made any changes in the past few days, at all? Generally, things don’t break “like that”, so we’re trying to determine what changed.

That’s interesting, because I can’t. I am offered the .php file as MIME-Type application/xhttpd-php4, but it’s not being parsed. From the information we have so far, it looks like a hosting issue to me.

I’ve made a fair amount of changes over the past few days, with changes to both CSS and index templates as late as yesterday afternoon.

My browser was pulling cached data.  Clearing the cache offers the .php file as a download instead of parsing.

So the good news (maybe) is that all the templates are ok, the bad news is that Dreamhost has borked the php configuration on my server.

Yes, that might well be the case. Please let us know when they get back to you.

“Sorry about this. We had a brief bug with our PHP installation on some of our servers. I ran a config on your sites apache and that seems to have cleared things up.”

I’d expect to make that error when installing a PHP module, I expect a hosting company to be a bit more precise with their installations.  While I’d honestly rather pull out a fingernail than switch hosting companies, this has convinced me its time to go.

DigiFiend, would you like to keep this thread open a bit longer until you’re certain everything is working?

    Hi Sue:

That would be great.  While I am 90% sure the problems are related to my hosting company, leaving the thread open until sometime tomorrow might be a good idea.

On a side topic, where would the best place be to look for information on how to move an existing EE installation?  EEwiki or forums?

Thanks so much for the help!

Just for the record, it’s working fine now, so looks like a temporary hosting issue. If there’s nothing else, I’ll close this thread in a day or so.

    Ingmar/Sue:

Feel free to close this thread.  With Sue’s help in post 11, I’ve migrated my site to EngineHosting and all is working well.

Thanks again for the wonderful support!
