Why do I need to purchase a 3rd party module (http://www.solspace.com/docs/c/User/) in order to get member management functionality in normal templates?!
Is there a particular reason EE is using a special kind of templates for this?
Thanks :o)

Great question. How can the process of skinning the membership area be simplified and or at least explained.
EE Gods please help us!

As I recall from other threads, the Membership has it own (leaner) system for performance reasons. The weblog templating system is quite robust but resource intensive. Will be interesting to see what EE-2 brings.

Understandable, but why remove the option (to manage members in normal templates)?
The option should be there… if not for any other reason, than for the sake of consistency and easier website development…
If you ask me, that is a very poor way to solve the performance problem.
Let’s hope EllisLab will do something about this in EEv2.
PS Same goes for the message templates… I mean, WHY 😊?

The option was never there, hence the Solspace module if you need/want that. It has been a feature request though and that’s why I’m hoping EE2 makes some changes.
