    Hi there,

I’m utterly new to this, one of those designer types that doesn’t code much, but I’m doing pretty ok so far. Just having one or two problems at the moment.

Could someone please tell me in idiot terms, is it possible for my client to have one posting appear in several weblogs?

I’ve set up a template for each page, categories too. I thought by selecting from the categories list in his posting area it would distribute the info accordingly, but I was wrong. Big suprise from a newb.  😉

Any and all advice is VERY appreciated!!!

There is no out of the box method to doing this.  Ultimately it is possible but this would be a custom coded solution.  You are better off coming up with an alternative.

To be honest, I don’t even see how that would be possible with a custom solution, short of duplicating the article and storing it twice, with different weblog_ids. As it currently stands, every article has one and exactly one weblog it belongs to. terrafovea, you might want to rethink your setup. You can easily show articles from more than one weblog on a template, work with categories (articles can belong to more than one category, eg.), custom statuses or related entries.

Right.  However, I guess this technically would not be saving the same weblog entry to multiple weblogs.  It would really be posting two different entries with the same content.

Terrafovea, depending on your needs you can accomplish this to some degree with relationships.  Using the example in the documents linked below, you might have two bands playing one event (two “band” entries and one event entry.)  You create a relationship between events and bands and make your selections.  The event entry contains the date of the event, but for some reason the date changes.  If you update the event with the new date then that is also updating the attached information on two other weblog entries.

Read about relationships in the docs.  Of course you can use the relationship tag to display entries that are related to the entry you are displaying (all bands playing an event for example.)  You can also show a reverse of that relationship (show events that a band is playing.)

Perhaps this will work for you.
