I have been trying and trying but i can’t seem to get BBC Radio 1 into a .mp3 file. I downloaded their .ram file and that works with real player but i want to use it in iTunes. When i open the .ram file in TextEdit i get this url ‘rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio1/live/r1_dsat_g2.ra’ And have been trying different methods of converting to an mp3 e.g. opening that stream in VLC and save and encode that in it, but with no success.

So do you guise have any tips for opening ‘rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio1/live/r1_dsat_g2.ra’ in iTunes (and i have tried Advanced -> Open Stream).

    Thanks

I thought that was for recording. I don’t want to record the radio just convert it so i can listen to the live stream in iTunes not RealPlayer. I will give it a quick look though, thanks.

No no, i don’t want a recording. I want to listen to the live stream but through an mp3 file not a ram file. Do you understand now?

I’d almost certain this cant be done. Not without recording it.

Well you can open streams in iTunes (i have tried and it doesn’t work) but i was wondering if there was a way of opening with iTunes. Ah well if it can’t, Thanks.

You should be able to do it using Advanced > Open Stream and then entering the URL.  The problem with the mp3 part is that an mp3 is a whole file.  A .rm file is simply a pointer to a server pumping out multicast packets.  So it’s not something you can download directly and save in a file.

I’ve tried Advanced -> Open Stream but it doesn’t work. And i was just hoping there was a way i could open it in iTunes and not have to use Real Player.
