    Hi,
I am creating a basic themes with all the templates that I would always use on any Expression Engine installation. A very basic theme! I would like to be able to ceate the templates within different template groups. I copied the php code from the default template but this one only allows me to create them in the template group site. How can I arrange for different template groups to be created on installation?

    Thanks,
    Max

One solution is to save the template files.

Then you can just create a new template group and copy the files locally.

It’s funny, I’ve been thinking about that the other day, and I didn’t find any documentation on template structure. Sure, I can replicate the PHP code of one of the templates, but: How can I create various template groups? Where is the code that creates the three categories? Can I change that?

Could I perform arbitrary PHP code in the template? Upon installing it, I mean, there is some in there.

One way I could achieve all that, and more, I suppose, is by setting up EE, configure everything the way I want, then dump the db for re-use at a different site, but that’s not very elegant, I think.

    Exactly Ingmar,
right now I’m using the db version but I am hating myself everytime I do it. Maybe we see a feature in EE 2…
