this might be old news for some, but I’ve found that I can get the new Vista fonts free for my old MS office and XP machine (I’ve only tried this with a PC not a Mac).

On a flatscreen display, some of these fonts are much easier on the eyes than the conventional ones when using a text editor.

Now .. you can pay $299 for the font-pack or ...

If you have Microsoft Office ...

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for the full set comprising ... calibri, cambria, constantia, corbel, candara, consolas.

Why do they all start with C? Weird.

Also, are these superseding Arial as the new MS default?

If you google on Vista fonts and CSS font-family, there are some nice sets to use.
Beginning with the newer fonts, and then arial etc. for design use.
I know there are other downloads where it wasn’t required to have office to get the fonts.
I’ve had them quite a while now, and don’t have Vista just XP, forget quite where I got them.
I can pile some links in here, when I dig them up, not good w/bookmarks, checking my zotero setup.
Wrong machine, have to find them Monday.

Smashing Magazine, which is of course the greatest site in the world, regularly posts free fonts and most of them are terrific.

    Check them out
