Suddenly most support threads are "closed" after some time.

This is why threads that are closed and marked resolved include a button to create a new related topic.

Which raises a question in my mind: will it be flagged automatically as “related” to the original thread so that anyone reading the new one will know to review the background, or will the person posting the new related thread have to link to the old, closed thread to make the connection?

But as you can see we’re a very open community. So far you’ve interacted with the VP, support techs, and a key member of the development team.

    AND ...

Our job isn’t to give you an answer you like, its to give you an honest answer

... are only a couple of the reasons I’ve become such a fan EL.

Currently it will add the necessary preformatted link into the body of your new topic automagicamally for you, with the end result looking like this.

And here I added my own test. 😊

    end result looking like this

    That’s cool!

I guess I find the Resolved/Closed jarring with it’s finality. Maybe something slightly different…

    At beginning of thread:
    This Issue/Thread has been Resolved

    At the end:
This Issue/Thread has been Resolved - Support will not be following this thread.
You can add to this thread but if you want “active” support you might want to start a new one specific to your issue

Edit Add: And actually not closing them.

It is indeed cool. I should have learned long ago that anything I can think of after the fact, has probably been thought of before the fact by the people who actually do stuff.

I think it absolutely necessary to have a lifetime for a thread (lots of reasons).

I also agree that the image used is a little jarring in certain cases. I’m not saying it needs a smiley face, but there is something potentially punitive about it, that will not be particularly helpful for situations like familychoice. In which case a “pending resolution” status may be more effective.
