I am trying to figure out why I can’t use the picture url code in the ee forum module.  I have it set to “allow safe html only” which I was told allows BB codes.  When I type in the code it just makes the url a link, it doesn’t show the picture after the post is submitted.

I want to stay away from allowing html so is there a way to make this work or perhaps another way to allow users to post pictures without allowing html?

I’m sure this has been covered but I couldn’t find anything by searching, sorry 😊.

Hi, daform - if this is a link to an image, you’ll need to turn on “Allow Image Hot linking?” in your forum preferences.  Give that a shot and let us know if that fixes it up for you =)

    Hey Lisa,

Thanks a lot for the reply.  I already have image hot linking enabled and when I enter the code it hyperlinks the image, I would like the images to show up in the post.

By allowing image hot linking should the pictures show in the post when that code is used?

It should work- just tested on my install hotlinking to Lisa’s avatar.  I suspect you may have hotlinking set for the default permissions, but not the forum specific ones.  I’d double check that first- for the forum you’re trying to do this in, go to ‘Edit’ and click ‘Show Preferences’- is hot linking definitely allowed there?

And- here’s the code I just tested:

    Test hotlink

Might duplicate that in your tests (and then delete once working)- since we know it worked on mine.

Neither of those do the trick- what version/build of both EE and the forum are you running?
