I just received my XO Laptop and after viewing websites on its 7.5” screen, I realized I need to start getting up to speed with what’s involved with developing websites for even smaller screens; since I’ve been reading that more and more webviewing is being done on iphone-sized devices.

So can anyone share some insights on what EE designers are doing to get their content legible on small devices? And, if you know of any good links for learning about designing for small screens, I’d appreciate knowing about them.

    Thanks.

Mobile Web Design by Cameron Moll is a good starting point.

Les, that’s a good one but with the iPhone and it’s double-tap/zoom, most sites work just fine as is. I think that is the future for most mobile devices and most sites. Just make sure your site/css has distinctive blocks to zoom in on. Another factor is all the major browsers are incorporating a zoom function. If you download the nightly Webkit builds, the latest has it. Specialty apps/sites are a different matter.

Edit-2: The attached image from that second link illustrates the problem with designing for ubiquitous mobile, too many sizes and capabilities.
