Anyone upgraded yet?
I’m still on XP, but my girlfriend has Vista which is painfully slow.

I upgraded my Vista to SP1, and i don’t see difference.
But it’s working fine, it’s quite fast.
My configuration:
Intel dual core 2,2GHz, 2 GB DDRII-Ram, 512 MB Graphic card.

Yeah, to Ubuntu a couple of years ago 😉 The system resource requirements for Vista are absolutely ridiculous. Microsoft is finding that the biggest competitor to Vista is… XP, lol.

My next rig will be either Mac or Ubuntu. I really don’t want to go with Vista. Currently I’m stuck with my good ol’ dell laptop. It’s pentium m 2 ghz, 512 ddr, but it runs a lot faster than my girlfriends new dell dual core 2, 1gb ddr2 with Vista preinstalled. Also I’ve heard that new SP3 for XP is gonna be even faster.

If you haven’t tried either of those (Mac or Ubuntu), I’d recommend giving them both a try. I use a G5 at work with OSX and I use Ubuntu for my home machines; both have proven to be very solid choices. The biggest problem I have heard with Vista is the RAM requirements. 1GB is recommended as the minimum for anything other than the “home basic” edition, but most articles suggest having at least 2 GB, which is absolutely ridiculous for an operating system today (especially when a 32bit system essentially maxes out at 4GB).
