The EE 2.0 backend was designed by Veerle (I think I read that on Derek Allard’s blog). Jesse designed the EllisLabs’ websites (codeigniter.com, expressionengine.com, etc).

We collaborate with a number of talented designers. Jesse B.C. is the designer for the current branding and site design for the EllisLab family of sites, as well as the current color scheme of the ExpressionEngine control panel. Veerle Pieters of duoh.com is the designer we collaborated with for the ExpressionEngine 2.0 control panel.

their work is amazing!
