It feels modern and slick trendy and tired.
Yes, an alternate corporate, stuffed shirt sophisticated version would be nice mandatory too.

I guess it’s a combination of the colors and the bigness of everything I’m not liking at the moment.
Other than the style/design I’m looking forward to getting my grubby little hands on it 😊

Here’s the discussion thread! At 4am in the morning all I could find was this topic, so most of my comments have been posted there. Perhaps an idea to merge those topics?

I have to agree with PXLated I’m afraid (btw that’s not a dig at you PXlated! 😊 )

I think the design is nice but just not right for this kind of application. EE has very quickly grown into an outstandingly capable application and I just think that the design (again no offence to Veerle as she is an excellent designer) doesn’t quite reflect this. Of course we haven’t seen a final version or one with all the AJAXy goodness in it so I am definitely going to hold reservation until I too get my grubby little hands on it 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Man I can’t wait to actually see 2.0 in action…

Just adding some counterweight concerning the design, I love it!
I too think some of the text is a bit on the big site, but looking at it from a client perspective it is perfect!

[client] Big means readable and easy to find [/client]

p.s. guess I have to dive into CI now…

Same here. Guess I’ll download it fairly soon and see if I can wrap my head around it so hopefully I will have a slight head-start when EE 2.0 finally comes out 😉

    Best wishes,

But why. For my point of view EE 2.0 should be usable without using the CI. Anyway, hopefully we dont have to start use CI just to use incoming EE. In the end i think i must also DL CI just in case but im not hoping that i need to learn 2 new things when its time. =)

The whole CI story would (most likely) only affect Add-On developers.
I don’t think you have to worry about that, tuittu. 😉

I doubt the “average/normal” EE user/developer will have to dig into CI., just as you don’t have to know PHP or anything about the underlying code to build a site now. If on the other hand you want to build your own custom parts, add-ons, etc. you will do that using the CI framework.

I don’t want to be annoying, but does anyone know when we’ll be able to test EE2.0 ?
    Just to have a idea ? Weeks, Months… ?

Unfortunately the standard answer is :

“It’ll be ready when it’s ready!”

This doesn’t really help any of us but the EE crew don’t like to put a date on such things which is understandable really otherwise they might get stuck on some code and then not be able to keep their delivery date promise.

It is a bit of a brain-mess-up though when they very teasingly tempt you with screen-shots for something that might not come out for quite a while though. Naughty EE team, here’s a slap from me!! 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

My personal guess is that since there is a screen-shot from the demo of the control panel with a build number saying april 08 in it that may be a clue as to when they might anticipate the beta released to developers for accessory add-on testing. Of course, no one should bank on that. But, for those of us waiting, it’s fun to imagine that this might be EllisLab’s way of giving a clue without officially commenting or committing to a time frame.

That’s my .02 cents, now watch me be wrong! 😊

Yes but it’s actually the 1st April so that could be them playing a little joke on us couldn’t it now!! 😉

I was not really honest about it, I already knew what the answers will look like 😜
I just don’t know how I gonna sleep now, after looking at EE screenshot!!

It’s gonna be hard to wait still!

I know exactly what you mean! My wife has had to knock me over the head with a book a few times as I am going mad with anticipation!! 😉

Absolutely, but now that date creates even more speculation on intent and your response just adds to the “will they or won’t they” which I would say is the sole reason that specific day of the month was chosen. It adds to the anticipation and speculation.
