I know, I know…there are a number of these threads out there already and I think I’ve looked though all of them.

That being said, there must be someone out there using EE to power an e-commerce site that accepts payments other than Paypal.

Can you please post your links here and what cart you are using…

    Thanks in advance.

I came across this the other day: CoolCommerce

CoolCommerce is an e-commerce module for ExpressionEngine integrated with Foxy Cart for payment processing.

Create professional looking web sites with ExpressionEngine and accept payment using all major credit cards.

No idea what it’s like, never used it, but it’s donation-ware so might be worth a look (and some $) 😊

Neat but it uses FoxyCart which costs $15 per month.
I’ll wait for news from Texas ... 😖

Is the $15/mo like a lease on the license?
I was interested in this, but now not so much.

$15 a month is cheap - wait till you start looking at gateway costs! I would certainly pay for this if they had a UK Gateway option that wasn’t going to cost me £100 a month after a £700 set up fee… ouch! Give them their due though they are looking into Pay Pal PRO for the UK.

Ouch! That’s pretty steep.  Most here are between $25-30/mo. Same for PP pro

Anyone got any feedback with this CoolCommerce?

Dont mind paying the $15 , thats not exactly that much.

I was thinking initially of using Zen Cart for this project, but a simple add on to EE would be more appropriate.

What are the other options of a CMS / shopping facility combined..

    Thanks.

I am having problems installing CoolCommerce on my EE install - however Kevin is hoping to get out a new version this weekend to fix the issues. The good news is that you don’t need Coolcommerce to run FoxyCart (though from what I see it is of course better with CoolCommerce). The bigger problem I think you will have, based on your user name of Stig I am guessing your from the UK, is the fact that FoxyCart does not have very good gateways for UK payments yet - they are working on it but the only option is very very expensive (£700 set up with £100 month costs +£7.50 Foxycart + the % the bank take from each transaction).  Foxycart have said they will be looking into providing access to more affordable UK gateways (and so they should as it will encourage a lot more UK sites to use thier fab interface) when they have restructured their back end to make it much more flexible to allow all sorts of gateways to be integrated quickly - which makes sense.

So what to do?  I am building a site right now with this problem and am hoping to get it live next week. I have decided, with the client, to opt for Romancart which is very good but lacks any real panache! We will be switching over to Foxycart if and when they have the UK part sorted, but until then real life kicks in and my client needs to sell products and Romancart will do it for them initially!

    Wow I missed this thread!

FoxyCart supports eWay which is one of the most popular gateways here in Australia. This might just make my day…

Well until EE 2.0 + Full Commerce is released! I really hope there is eWay support off the bat there.

I just used Foxycart and CoolCommerce recently on the Gary Player Shop. Both Brett (FoxyCart) and Kevin (CoolCommerce) were extremely helpful in implementing the features. I feel like CoolCommerce still has a little ways to go in terms of bugs and what-not, but overall, I’d give it 2 thumbs up. I’m especially eager to see how it evolves in the future.

Looks like they’ve stopped working on CoolCommerce, haven’t they ?

I just read - that’s a pity as it promised a lot and Foxy cart is by far the sexiest cart around. This extension is a little niche though - I suspect only a small percentage of EE builds have a cart and only a small percentage of those can use Foxycart thus they may not have had many downloads and the effort needed to write the next version might have been seen a better used elsewhere in their lives. With the credit crunch biting hard I suspect that this story will be repeated.

Their modules are still available for a short time so if you want them best download soon.

the one thing with foxycart (at least it appears this way) is I have to pay $15 a month for their software AND the gateway fee. So typically your court could cost 25 and up a month.

Compared to some solutions this is reasonable but of course a lot will depend on what you are selling and how many transactions per month a would be in any serious business plan. i think Foxy cart gives an edge over other solutions becuse the interface is extremely good - not just the initial user experience of purchasing but also the follow up automated mail - the whole experience is superior - if you want return customers then this needds to be factored in.
