I’m curious if the theme used by these forums is available anywhere. I find them to be very clean and minimalist. It seems to be the only theme that wasn’t included in the forum package download.

Hee hee, I didn’t mean come off so dry in my response. If you’re looking for a “minimalist” theme to start with Derek Jones whipped one up in a blog post awhile back. Its not “officially” maintained by us but you might find it a great starting point for your needs.

I really like the Support Forum theme - so much so, that I’ve essentially recreated it (changing things here and there like the PM box (see pic), losing the whole support nav at the top, among some other like different images and icons), and let me tell you, that was NOT fun, but it was a good exercise in punishing myself mercilessly for hours, and for what, I’m not sure. Did I learn anything? I’m too dazed to remember.

Well, I did learn that I can make and use my own custom functions in the forum theme files. And that I will always charge double when a client wants to skin a forum.  😜

I’m fuzzy here - can an “homage” or a recreation of the Support theme be used?! If you were to look at it, I don’t think you’d mistake it for EE at all - but you might say “this is done in the EE forum style”. I mean, is the layout, or way in which the threads/posts are shown, copyrighted somehow? I’d love to use my “approximation” but not at the cost of being in trouble :sick: I in no way want to be a pirate…but a ninja!

A couple weeks ago I dove into the forums themes to style my own. At first I used the minimalist theme and then after a few days of tweaks, I deleted it and started over using the developer theme. You can see the results here: http://www.kentuckygolfing.com/forums

On the surface they seem very difficult to style but after you really get into them and learn where things are, they aren’t so bad. I’m happy with how mine turned out. Maybe starting with the developer theme could work for you too?

I need to get to a few more of the more obscure pages and tweak a few more things out. At that point I’ll show you - and change it as much as it needs to be changed so that I’m not hopping on your brand.

Thanks Leslie, glad you think so. Took about a week of a few solid hours each night to tweak it but I’m actually glad I did. I think my next theme will be much easier because of it.
