Is it Possible to Post to a Weblog Publish Form by Sending EE a URL String in the Browser Address Bar?

I use a feed reader called “Feed Demon” and it has a “send to” function where one can send content of a feed (http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2008/02/extending-feedd.html). to update a website such as del.icio.us and stumbleupon and I’m wondering if it’s possible to extend it to EE’s control panel. So, I know I can open a weblog publish page using a URL like this:
    /index.php?S=&C=publish&M=entry_form&weblog_id=19.

But I’m not sure how one would pass content of the Title field and one or two custom fields? If I can figure out what would actually do the trick to insert content into publish form fields (if possible) then I can set the feedreader to submit content based on a URL structure.

Also, I’m thinking if that’s not possible of just sending content to a gmail account and pull that it via the moblog function. Problem is that the content (URL) article excerpt are all included in the body of the email and it takes more steps to do it. I’m wondering if anyone has had luck publishing to EE directly from any feedreaders or other external methods?

At least the bookmarklet is able to do so ... you might look under MyAccount > Weblog Settings > Bookmarlet and experiment with it.

Thanks for the tip. This would seem to indicate its possible. I’ll start in on this.

You might also check out the Metaweblog API, most of the feed readers I’ve used can post using that.

Thanks Lisa! Would you by chance be able to recommend an rss feed reader (for windows) that would be compatible?

I use a Mac, so I’m not sure. Are you sure FD doesn’t?

Lisa, I’d be surprised if it didn’t but so far I haven’t found any documentation for it. So, I was going to see if I could locate another RSS reader to test out.

@ms - I came close with the bookmarklet tool—I am able to post title & url but not any other content.

I’ll keep poking around these options. I know there’s a solution something in there but I lack the skills/knowledge and/or tools but I might stumble onto the answer.

UPDATE: I got this url string to work pulling code from the bookmarklet functionality and FeedDemon rss reader:

    /index.php?C=publish&Z=1&BK=1&weblog_id=19&title;=$ITEM_TITLE$&field;_id_64=$ITEM_DESCRIPTION_PLAIN$&tb;_url=&field;_id_62=$ITEM_LINK$

This seems a solution for me as well.

Is this there documentation on what i can use in this string:
    index.php?C=publish&Z=1&BK;=
