Do you have some futuristic visions? :D

    In 2050:

    - What version is CodeIgniter?
    - What version is PHP?
    - How will some regular day coding CI be? In TextMate on your Macbook ..or?

Well, seeing as how those of us who haven’t chosen to download our brains into indestructible robot bodies and fly off to explore the universe will be running around naked in a stable-state nomadic existence with contact lenses hooked into the Metaverse, I imagine programming in toto will be more of a “tell the machine what you want, and it builds it for you” kind of thing. The human knowledge base will be available, and websites will not exist. And we will look fondly back at those days of PHP and websites.

Can’t wait till they start using Windows in automated cars that drive us around.  Will bring a whole new meaning to Blue Screen of Death…...

    To answer tobben’s original post

    - CodeIgniter will be at version 1.6.2 cause it just can’t get any better 😛
    - PHP is no longer called PHP, it just becomes an W3C standard format for all backend web development
    - Hopefully lying in bed and just thinking of code and the Eclipse Telepathic plugin does the rest 😉

Oh and I think the end of the world is 2038 😉

How there a question that started this topic 😊

    - CodeIgniter will be available for all programming languages and version numbers will become irrelevant but the name is changed to CodeIgnitor.
    - Oh yes i remember php form the years i still wasn’t on viagra (now you can choose the sight color you want)
    - coding will be handled by cats and dogs because it’s that simple to code nowadays, more time for me to be on the forum

We will still be supporting PHP4!

While some developers will have realized the new improved PHP-X43 strand actually is capable of folding time and can wipe PHP4 out of existence!

Folding time…. How handy would that be.

Also, cloning is now legal! As well as genetic modification to make these clones slightly more docile.  Now I can delegate the work to be done by myself and not end up in an argument (with myself).

This would be ideal for those moments where you haven’t enough time to complete multiple projects - but refuse to outsource because the project would then not be completed the way (it should) I would have done it.

    Or when I need a holiday…. Or a weekend…

Don’t mean to be gloomy but I reckon with the current state of things we’ll be damn lucky to make 2020, and I think we’ll be too busy fighting conflicts over petrol for our boats ( as we’ll all be underwater ) to worry about what version of CI we’ll be using.

    😊

If everything is underwater it would save a lot of energy not having to cool down computers 😛
