In what circumstances do you use ‘Fast Reply’ rather than the normal ‘Post Reply’?

The reason I ask is that users are reporting on occasion being redirected to the main ‘Post Reply’ page. Is there a limit on how many words can be used i.e. if that is exceeded they are redirected. If so, can this be changed?

I recall there is a minimum limit on the number of words (or letters) - can anyone confirm this and if it can be amended?

    Thanks

Sounds like they are either leaving their window open too long and the secure hash is expiring, or their IP has changed from the time they loaded to the form to the time they replied.  If the latter is occurring because many of your users have ISPs who constantly rotate IP addresses, you can always disable the secure forms feature, though this is a fairly effect CSRF prevention mechanism.

Thanks Derek for your prompt reply.

So there are no word/character limits for fast reply - merely you do not have the all the options that are displayed when using ‘Post Reply’?

    Thanks

Correct, the submitted content is processed identically.  If you look at the markup, you’ll see that the form action for the Fast Reply form is the newreply page.  So a failed form submission will land you on the page with the full form.  A failure to be recognized as the same machine that the form was generated for is the most common cause of that type of behavior, and can be triggered by the two circumstances related above.

Thanks Derek - I shall relay that message on.
