    Fresh Install…

Please forgive me as I am new to E.E.  I have installed according to the install guide, changed the file permissions as specified.  After install, ran the setup page and everything checked out ok.

When I went to try the User guide Tutorial, I created a template inside of a template group with content, but when I try to view the template it re-directs me to the Home page???  Why would it re-direct me?  Do I need to reinstall or change more file permissions?

Also. Do we really have to give access to the whole world on the specified install files of 777?

    Thank you for your response.

    Andy

Hi, Andy, welcome to the forums!

Can you check this kb entry in regards to your first issue?

For the question of 777 permissions, yes you do need those,  you might like to read this comment by Derek Jones

    Lisa,

Thank you for your quick response!  That was very helpful and had to do a little trial and error, but this is what I came up with:

I am using Godaddy hosting with the deluxe plan. Evidently Godaddy does not support the ”path_info” server variable.  Expression Engine being as awesome as it is, supplied a workaround.  It said that you can run this without Forced Query Stings, but unfortnatley I had to keep them on to get it to work.

That’s what I get with cheap hosting!  I had MediaTemple before this and may go back.  Not too sure what to do because Godaddy has much better support and the people are nice.

    Thanks again Lisa!
