I finally got around to taking pictures of my development areas:
My Desktop
This machine started out as a Dell Dimension 8300, it has since been upgraded significantly (dual 3.2GHz processors, 2GB RAM, Dual GeForce 8800GTX running in SLI). I think it’s one of the few machines out there today that can run Crysis, no problem.
At the top of the desk is a picture of Shannon’s family many years ago, Shannon is the blonde 3 year old on the far right.
The second shelf houses a few of my awards. On the far right is the 2005 Information Manager of the Year award, the 2004 IM of the Year award is the eagle on the far left. In between is my coin rack which is slam full - I need to get a larger one. The medal is for scoring perfect on my PT test in 2005.
The “A” and “T” little people are from a schwag giveaway at CenterNetworks from Right Media. There used to be a “P” and an “N” but my daughter ate them.
Speaking of the daughter, you can see her headed over to the couch to destroy the stack of neatly folded clothes I just finished.
Finally, Shannon’s laptop is sitting on the side table. Nothing to call home about there - a Dell Vostro 1000 running Vista which makes it slow as hell. I just haven’t taken the opportunity to upgrade it to XP yet.
My Laptop
This is my laptop, sitting on the dining room table, and is where I do most of my “playing around.” Currently this laptop is being molested with TurboGears, Django, Zend Framework, and Akelos. It’s a Panasonic Toughbook CF-W4 and I absolutely love it. Not the most powerful machine in the world, but more than enough for my programming, and it is the lightest/smallest laptop I have ever held (except for the Sony Vaio TZ which is well outside my price range - this is what I purchased for the General for his trips, awesome!!! laptop).
Not very many easter eggs in this picture. The center piece is from our wedding - a frankenstein of 3 different products from Michael’s I put together about 2 hours before my wedding in full freakout mode with my best man (we were surprised by needing an extra table at the reception, so the normal centerpiece that was setup on our table went to the new one, and I had to come up with something special for the head table).
You can see the blouse for my uniform, my “planning” notebook, my dog’s sex buddy (he really humps the hell out of that thing), and the coffee is Folger’s 1/2 Caffeine. TV is an RCA 52” HDTV.
