I noticed that some of my categories were empty when I clicked on them.  When I checked on the backend, I see that an entry was added to the specific category.  The only thing I could tell was that the last time an entry was made in the category was over a year ago, so my question is whether there is a way to have the categories pull articles related to it rather than just the last 12 months IF that is indeed the issue?

Try this query in your back end:

select * from exp_category_posts where cat_id = 669

Do you get anything back with that query?

Am I running this in phpmyadmin?

I finally had some time to spend chasing this problem and it turns out that this was two issues that appeared to be one problem.

First, we had duplicate categories, which seems really bizarre, but I deleted those.

Second, we still have empty categories that are not duplicates…they are empty…and the entries we posted that went in them are nowhere to be found EVEN after doing a search in the backend. 

Has anybody ever heard of entries being auto-pruned or auto-deleted?  Is there such an option?
