Really? I could only see semi dedicated servers on your site. I want a dedicated server. No virtualisation no sharing, just me. Is this what you’re offering?

Yes we can but we have not fully updated our site yet with this option. please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your requirements for a quote.

We use UK2.net for our dedicated server. So far, the server has been up for 163 days. The only downtime we’ve had is when I accidentally stopped the DNS server from running, and left it like that over the weekend 😊

I ran some monitoring stuff on a few of the companies that have been listed in this thread. The best by far seems to be uk2.net in my price bracket (£100 a month).

Untited hosting looks great though, if i had the money i would go for one of their dedicated servers!

Personally I’d go with GlobalGold (http://www.globalgold.co.uk/). It’s a small company with some big servers, lots of options from cheap (£6.99pm) single domains to full colocation. Their customer support is second to none, very very helpfully and informed, never ever a call center thousands of miles away from the servers. Not only that but the have experience using codeigniter (they use it internally).

HdotNET I’ve had a good look through some of those and i reckon i will still go with them. Nobody’s perfect!

Webfusion used to be simply awful, but i have heard good things about them recently. Perhaps a leopard can change it’s spots…

    audiopleb… look at rapidswitch.com

I had a cpanel dedicated server with them last year… they were called 49pence.com and got bought by rapidswitch. The only downtime we experienced was down to a flood at redbus in canary wharf (out of their hands), and then when they moved out to a new a datacentre in maidenhead.

I had good, very fast, support from them, via their ticketing control panel: https://myservers.rapidswitch.com

They have on site and off site techs (outsourced in Romania I think) who really know their stuff, they can also supply NAS disk space for your own backups.

We also signed up with platinumservermanagement.com, who can jump in and handle reboots for you if you are at the pub or something.

I just gave rapidswitch a call to ask them a couple of questions. The “person” on the other end of the phone came across like he was in the middle of a heavy LSD trip and was too busy trying to focus on the large multi-coloured animals to answer my questions properly. I might give them a miss!

Hi, i just wanted to ask you a couple of questions about your dedicated servers
    ..........mnng
Could you tell me a little about what your support (if any) entails.
    ......support…...uhh…...hardware…......in an hour…..
Riiiight, well thanks, i think i have all i need.
    .......ok….....bye….

Each .... represents a good 5 seconds or so.

    Sheesh.

    audiopleb - give Global Gold a call - 0845 313 0909.

I would be very interested to see what the response you got was!

I can assure you, you’ll find no spaced-out, drug-induced space monkeys there!

BTW. No I don’t work for them, but I have been hosting with them for nearly a decade.

I already gave global gold a call and they were cool. No hard drugs being ingested there (unless they hide it well)

I’m just waiting for the quote they’re e-mailing through.
