    HI,

Recently, a website I developed was hacked. The front page was replaced and the other files in the directory deleted. The web host restored files from their backup in a couple of days. Everything seemed back to normal until we used the CMS to add/update the content of the website.

From the EE interface, it seemed that new articles were being added and changes to existing articles were being saved. However, these changes were not reflected on their respective public web pages.

What could be causing this problem?

The site is using ExpressionEngine 1.5.2 Build:  20070126

    Thanks,

    Steve

I’d start by ftp’ing and and deleting the system/cache folder- the creating a new one and chmodding it so it’s writable- typically 777.

See if that gets the new content showing.

As to the hack- has your host identified the exploit and secured the server?  And an upgrade to the latest version of EE wouldn’t be a bad idea, just to shake out any lingering effects.

    Dear Robin,

Thank you very much for the tip! It resolved the problem.

Re: Hack. I believe it had nothing to do with EE. It was a problem with the web host that has since been resolved. I will look into upgrading to v.1.6.2 soon. Just need to make sure that the third party plugins and modules will either work or have a substitute in the latest version of EE.

    Thanks again!

    Steve
