Hey any feedback appreciated I’ve got a relative idea on the data structure to put this together.
It’s still a bit sketchy, but getting interesting:
    mockup of a creative site
The idea is using tandem issues navigations one for daily, and one for monthly.
The daily feed would have magpie pulled in content, that is not necessarily even stored in the db.
Any comments on the template or data would be a help.
There are no live links on the page only the navigation elements and titles.

A specific question I have is would there be a way to show the comment count as in this mockup, that would show the total count for the issues homepages, not a total for features in the issue, just comments for the issues.
Did jambor-ee have comments per issue?

Not even links back to the sites feeding you your content via Magpie? It usually considered a courtesy to link back to the originator of content you use on your own site. Some people are notorious for creating sites filled with ad links and other people’s content, so the practice is doubly frowned upon as it seems funny, like a one-way benefit.

    Very nice looking design!

Thanks Terry, I think you misunderstood my reference to the live links, I only meant this is just a comp page mockup.
The magpie content would link to whatever the remote site feeds intended it too.
I know it will pull in various sites CSS gallery feeds screenshots, and just using a few of those would always have fresh sites.
There are several gallery sites that are nothing but aggregate feeds, I don’t want to be one of those.

I got to wondering if there is an EE calendar type of navigation that can display an image thumbnail for each day, with small text blurbs, planning to build this to start on the core version.

Oh - yes I did misunderstand. It was about ten minutes before I went to bed that I read your post, so maybe I should make a cut-off at twenty minutes before bedtime!! (No live links on the SAMPLE page! Of course!)

I don’t really understand what you meant by “tandem issues navigations one for daily, and one for monthly”. I’m not clear on “total count for the issues homepages” either.

What kind of “creativity” content will you be pulling in?

Showcasing what’s out there, but I really want to create original content, the magpie use is secondary to original content, tutorials, reviews, profiles, etc.
Maybe the daily stuff just falls under blogging, industry news, etc. not to sure about daily. Publishing a gallery site of the day is all I can really try and be sure to keep up with.
The daily stuff could just be on the homepage possibly, but seems like a second page and it could be expanded to include the feeds stuff for example.
There are feeds for tutorials, color, all kinds of stuff. Ideally being able to sort through those and publish to a combined feed that would be stored in the db might be best later on. There’s an EE plugin for that relating to the magpie.

First up is a daily features archive for image of the day and news links, there is a plugin that looks like it would work nicely for the archives of daily features:
    Yearly Archives Plugin
Does anyone have experience with Lowe’s plugin?
It’s been tested “Tested with EE version 1.4.1 build 20060217 and onwards”
I’m running the latest now 1.6.2.
Is there a better way to show monthly archives of daily posts, I had thought about a calendar type of thing, this may just be better though?

Lowe mentions this being an alternative to the EE method: Archive Month Links Tag
