In weblog > admin > category groups I can chose “manage custom fields” to create a new custom field.
Ok, but eh… then what?
Boyink says I can go back and edit my categories since I now have more fields. Hmm… I proceed to Weblog Administration › Category Groups › Category Management › Edit Category and find a field called “category group”. This field is not mentioned in the User guide section about editing category groups. I realize I am not getting the picture hre. It doesn’t say “category group field” but I try anyway, and put my new category group custom field name in the box. I was hoping the field somehow would appear on the publish page, like a weblog field. Not. So what is it for, how do I put data in the new field?
Now to the question which I was hoping this new category group field would solve for me.
I want to pull up data from different weblogs, by using the pipe character when specifying the weblog, like exp weblog entries : weblog1|weblog2 But each weblog has its own set of fields. Problem: which tag shall I use? I am not putting any data in the default body, summary, extended fields. So if I want the data from all specified weblogs. And separating body1 from body2 with | or OR isn’t the way to do it either I guess.
Would the category group custom field tag be the solution? And to get the field on the publish page I need to do…what?
Sorry about the confusion, appreciate your help.
(this turned out to be a “how to” question, sorry about putting it in general)
