Are there any intermediate level step-by-step tutorials that provide an overview of ExpressionEngine’s terminology and how its concepts are implemented?
The Quickstart tutorial is fine but it’s very basic.

The video tutorials are another good source when starting out, as is Lisa’s Importance of Symantics and Dissecting Default Templates series in the blog.
After that- I like Boyink’s tutorial on building an EE site. A bit higher level, but very readable.
(And I’m going to shift this over to ‘General’, where folks may point out some other good options.)

Thanks, I’m reading those now. And after 12 hours I’m very impressed with the software.
As a request to EllisLab: a second Quick Start Tutorial that covered field groups, custom fields and relating fields would be a huge help for day 1. Going from the “create a two page site” tutorial straight into the reference material means ExpressionEngine’s terminology isn’t very clear so it’s like trying to learn grammar by reading a dictionary. Field groups, typoconf vars and mambots are all pretty simple, but not until you understand them.
