boilerplate is a pretty basic css framework so you don’t have to throw too much rules away before going into production.

Not even the reset is always needed and sometimes it’s just extra work like for lists where the left padding is removed.

I think css frameworks really pay off when there are multiple designers otherwise creating your own (basic) framework will save you the most time in the end because you know it the best.

EDIT : this post is so old i didn’t see i responded already 😊 In the time css frameworks became hot.

boilerplate seems interesting, but I prefer to not use a CSS framework because each project is different and you’ll always end up with redundant code. Then if you ever need to hand over the project to another person they wont know what code does what.

Anyway; the only framework, if you can call it that I use would be a reset.css to normalize the style so I have a base to work from. I wouldn’t dare go into all this YAML / Blueprint stuff because I’d end up wasting time learning how to use it which could be better spent actually coding the website.

If anyone needs to use a CSS framework I would strongly advise to code your own, that way you know how EVERYTHING works and you’ll have no trouble extending it, etc ...

Ps : You should style your content like this : (header, navigation, footer) and not like this :(column span-102, alpha, beta) 😊

YUI Grids looks quite tasty. See Nate’s presentation:

The 960 Grid System is an effort to streamline web development workflow by providing commonly used dimensions, based on a width of 960 pixels. There are two variants: 12 and 16 columns, which can be used separately or in tandem.
