    Hi folks,

I’d like to put one of my company’s sites on top of a commercial license of EE. Given that this will be the first project I’ll personally be involved with using EE, I want to make sure I can work with my designers on integrating their css/html etc.

My question is, is it safe to assume that I can download EE Core, integrate the template there—and if it works out, be able to purchase EE commercial and copy/paste some configs/directories? What’s the best solution?

    Thanks!

    /sf

    Hiya Steve,

You can do this yes. Whilst you won’t have access to all modules that come with the full version of ExpressionEngine there is absolutely no stopping you from creating your site templates and then updating to the full version of EE. You will then only have to follow some simple update instructions which will involve uploading modules that don’t come with the core version and run a simple update script but you won’t really need to copy anything across anywhere so it should be a really nice easy cross-over for you.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi Steve,

No problems. Also I should have mentioned before, here are the instructions on how to update from core to the full version of EE.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Hey, Steve, Mark is spot on - but please do ensure that your site is licensed before it launches.  Thank you!

Believe me, as long as taking our PSD mockups and converting them into valid CSS/XHTML on top of EE won’t be a hair ripping process, we’ll be licensed within a couple of days. 😊

If you have knowledge of how to create your PSD files into valid XHTML then your longest part is going to be the licensing in a couple of days part! 😊

EE really is an absolute snap to get your templates up and running. I can literally create the templates outside of EE first and then get the whole of a sites templates inside EE within under 10 minutes and that is me being slow!! 😊

I wish you all the best with your site. I am sure that you will love EE and the community here.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
