How exactly does the search module work?

I am searching for a term I picked out in an entry, and it returns no results. I double checked, and that field is searchable. Plenty of other terms work fine.

Are there situations where it doesn’t show up on the search results? Are the entries indexed at certain intervals?

Hope someone can shed some light on this one.

    Hiya,

What exactly are the results you see and what are you searching for? As long as your field / custom field is set to be enabled to be searched upon then if the word that you are searching for does indeed exist in that field in at least one entry then the search form should come back with a result.

Are you using the standard search form that comes installed as standard or have you modified it in any way?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi atealtha:

What parameters do you have set on the search tag?

Unless you’ve specified search_in=“everywhere” the default is “titles”.

You can review the docs here.

Absolutely. I should have mentioned that too. If you are using the stock advanced search form that comes with EE though then you should expect it all to work if you do indeed have the field set to be searchable. Perhaps you can let us have a little more information on your set-up and what exactly is happening?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thank you, the EE Tag parameters were the cause.
