Suggestions for multi-user multi-galleries

I will be working on a site featuring portfolios for different photographers. I will need to provide a solution where these different photographers will need to be able to manage their own portfolios by uploading and editing their own photos.

The problem is ideally they should not be able to manage each other’s work.  Unfortunately, I think that rules out the gallery module as I can’t seem to find any documentation where you could set permissions for a particular member or member group to work on a specific gallery. Am I wrong? I guess that means my only option would be to create a new weblog and member group for each author and assign that group to be able to only publish and edit his/her specific weblog. Then he/she can create a new entry for each photo they want to publish to their online site.

Any suggestions for how to best approach this?

    Good evening, Seth,

Please email sales with details of your project to clarify on licensing concerns.  It is against EE’s license to provide hosting to third parties.  You can read more in this kb article.

    Thank you!

Lisa, I am not sure the above will be an issue but will check on it like you suggested (I sent you a pm with a clarifying response).  The project above is nothing more conceptually than a multi-user blog. It is for one company that features work of a few people they represent.  They would like these few people to manage their own imagery that will be presented as part of said company’s portfolio.

I’ll look into this with sales, but I would still like to hear the community’s suggestions as to how best to achieve this to compare to my thoughts and see if there is a viable solution to explore.  In other words, I hope this doesn’t hijack or close this thread 😊.

Ok, so, this is what I would personally do for your specific project.  Essentially, set up one weblog where you have a shared, communal effort to post photos.  You can then use the methods described in this thread to drill-down by author as needed. =)
