    Hi,

I was wondering if you guys are planning to support Amazon SimpleDB? (http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=342335011)

    Thanks.

    Hi vinividivici,

I’m not sure what you mean by support. Amazon’s SimpleDB is too simple to install EE on (its not meant to run complex applications, at least not yet). It would certainly be possible to create a custom EE Add-on that interacts with Amazon’s SimpleDB service though.

Our stance on new technologies is to wait and see how they grow and stabilize. SimpleDB is certainly an intriguing service but its still in beta and its much too early to say if we’ll “support” it in any official fashion.

    Hi Leslie,

    Thank you for your response.

I suppose I was thinking too “pie in the sky” at this point - for example, being able to be less dependent on db configuration at a particular host.  From a more realistic perspective, the RESTful api would likely be fairly straight forward terms of an Add-on (I’ve been comparing EE and Symfony and the community on their side developed a plug in fairly easily).

Our stance on new technologies is to wait and see how they grow and stabilize. SimpleDB is certainly an intriguing service but its still in beta and its much too early to say if we’ll “support” it in any official fashion.

Sounds like a wise stance.  Amazon’s other services like S3 and EC2 seem pretty compelling.

Once again - thanks for your rapid response.
