I’ve just done a small site for my wife for our 4th anniversary (http://goodmorningmarriage.com).

One thing I’m hoping to add is to have posting that would be done via IM (ichat, jabber, or gtalk…)
I’d like to add a feature that collects the IMs we may have back and forth to each other as entries.

Has anyone heard of any way to post to EE using IM?

I did find this, but it feels a bit cumbersome.

I actually wrote a stand alone PHP script two years or so ago that basically was an IM Bot that would insert data into the EE database.  Would prompt for authentication, you could choose a blog, and then insert content.  However, it was incredibly cumbersome as every step required the bot to engage you.  It become a long discussion instead of a time saver.  A good idea for something like Twitter, but for inserting content in EE, the web interface is far more elegant.

    Paul,
Something simulating Twitter is exactly what I’m looking for.
Would you be willing to share your code, even if just to use it as a jumping off point?

and/or, what should I be thinking about, or be looking at, to accomplish this kind of thing?

I seem unable to find the original script, but I am sure if you do a Google search for the words PHP, AIM, bot, and script in some way that you will find another similar script.  Basically, it had to be run through the PHP command line interface as it needed to always be running, which means it is not something that will be typically possible on a hosted server.

Sounds like a perfect situation for a home server build, eh artiswork?
    It’s pretty simple.

BY THE WAY: beautiful site! I had planned on doing something similar for our wedding anniversary.

Yep. I’m working on looking at developing something like this. We’ll see 😊
Thanks for the encouraging words about the design.
