    Wow- you folks really brainstormed on this on- I’m still a little fuzzy on the details (and will probably shift this to ‘How to’ where more folks who need something along these lines may spot it).

    Will throw out one more idea- user defined globals can be used in entries- so might could put snippets there and have buttons to place the global variable in the text areas.  Not dead sure it suits in this case, but might be worth a look.

    And to add even more confusion - Fresh Variables might work too.

    But the idea of having a snippets blog and Mark’s multiple relationship extension sounds like a good solution.

    hate to bump my own entry but I thought that I should just add a short update:

    so I went ahead and set up 5 different weblogs / sections, each of them having a custom section entry field.

    the result is that the publish section now only shows the fields that I need. This gives me enough freedom for what I need and works very well.

    That said, I believe that the relationship approach might be great too, I am still trying to figure that one out though.

    Either way, multiple weblogs combined with section fields work very well.
