Like the title states, just wondering what hosting providers are most compatible with the CI framework. if you had a good experience with some host provider, i’d appreciate it if you can share them here!

CI doesn’t really do anything too out of the ordinary, so any provider that supports PHP/MySQL should do the trick. I personally use MediaTemple and find it works great, cause I can put my SYSTEM folder deep in the folder structure and share it between all my apps.

Do you know if they support SVN? 😛

I use dreamhost for some projects (even with all it’s problems - it’s still a pretty decent host for the money)... and it has svn.

Yes you can install CodeIgniter on just about any web host but good net etiquette is not to do your scripting development on shared hosting.  If your script blows up then you could screw everyone else on the server.

This may not apply to you as many people do their development offline.  I do all my development on my VPS at Slicehost.

If you do with MediaTemple, you don’t have to worry about screwing over everyone else. They use a clustering architecture that figuratively places everyone on their own server with their own quote of CPU, memory, etc.

I use also Media Temple. But really, is there any web host that supports PHP and any CI’s supported database and still doesn’t run CI?

Was going to share dreamhost experience. It supports and very open to new technologies. Also (usually) changes php settings on request and works just fine with CI.

Did couple of project using CI (previous versions) couple of years ago.. works like a charm…

I use Hostgator with no problems and a buddy of mine uses JustHost with no problems either. As mentioned though, most providers should have no issue with CI as its just PHP..

Come over to my VPS. Has Git & Subversion installed for you to do whatever the hell you please and has no problems running CI, cURL, GD2, Webmin, etc.

As a bonus, it’s running on Ubuntu ^_^
