I took a quick glance at CodeIobster and here’s a few opinions. Please note that I haven’t read any help files or support forums, just my 5 minute peek 😊

    - CI autocomplete is really nice. Seems to work fine in controllers and models. There seem to be some problems with views (doesn’t recognize html helpers…)
    - also, in views it won’t see the quick echo php tag (<?= )
    - How do I access the SVN/CSV functionality ? You do have SVN/CSV support, right?
    - I would have loved an Eclipse style tool tip for functions with phpDoc info there…
    - Also, an Eclipse keyboard preset would be useful 😉

I’m tempted to give it a try with a project but that’s not going to happen without SVN… 😊

Aptana with the PHP plugin. I’ve yet to find an IDE that is as fast, as feature-full and as easy to use as Aptana Studio.

If you document your code properly (PHP doc-blocks) then Aptana will provide the code-hinting, auto-completion, etc.

I just moved to NetBeans…. Zend Studio 7 was just too much of a bother…  2 full versions and they can’t get simple crap to work reliably - svn commits via hot-key (works on some files (php) but not others (tpl) vs right-click -> team -> commit -> comment -> ctrl-enter/click ok…. thats too much crap.

Netbeans, I set up the hot key combo and it’s worked perfectly every time.

Going to check out this CodeLobster link….

I have bought Codelobster’s plugin for CodeIgniter and it works very good for me.
    It’s auto-complete feature is amazing.
    It cost $24.95 only.
    I suggest it to everyone.

    Nobody is using PHPDesigner?

It’s the best editor for me. I used Dreamwaver, PsPad, Notepad, Netbeam ... but PHPDesigner is better.

    Why?
    1. Autocomplete save you a lot of time
    2. Error checker .. it will be very hard to make an error
    3. PHP Manual .. if you have to use basic PHP, you can very simple access to manual
    4. Great code highlighting (the best one imho)
    5. Hints, tips ....

Netbeans has all that too. What makes PHPDesigner any different?

It’s difficult to say because I was using it long ago. But you have to try ... because PHPDesigner is super intuitive.

I used Eclipse but on linux it was soo slow and buggy.. then I tried netbeans and I think it’s working perfectly
It would be nice if someone made some NetBeans code templates for codeigniter, or a codeigniter module

First Choice would be Netbeans for PHP - http://netbeans.org/
Second Choice would be Aptana - http://www.aptana.org/ - with Zen Coding macro system (good for the html ajax stuff) - http://code.google.com/p/zen-coding/

    Personally,

I rock Coda on the Mac and Eclipse on Windows. Rarely use Windows these days for development so don’t take my Eclipse recommendation to heart.

    😉
