Don’t have a link but there’s at least two threads here on the Forums, one fairly lengthy…just search for MAMP.

I like to use MAMP PRO by living-e (http://www.mamp.info/en/mamp-pro/)

This app makes MAMP basically a one-click operation. Costs about $60.

One problem is making the folders/files 777. There’s a way to do it, just search on google.

Just use the same ftp client you would use if you were accessing a remote server. worked for me.

just a question on using an FTP.  I use transmit.  If it’s a local server on my computer, what would I put under “Server” and do I need to put in the “Remote Path”, “Local Path”?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi John,

If you are using Transmit on OSX and all you need to do is change the permissions on a file on the computer then you should see a ‘Your Stuff’ pane, usually on the left hand side of the program and a ‘Their Stuff’ pane on the right. I personally hate these names but basically you could just use the ‘Your Stuff’ pane to locate the files and then utilise the control click on the file(s) to change the file permissions directly from there.

    Hope that helps.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

No problem at all. Personally I can see how Transmit can confuse the mind quite a bit with their weird naming of the two main folders. When I am doing a site sync using the program it can usually take me a few seconds to figure out exactly what they are on about as I don’t want to sync an empty folder with a live site.

All very scary if you ask me and I think they should change the naming convention as I just don’t think that it is intuitive enough. Other than that a pretty decent program.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
