Hi - continuing on from my previous question here, the client has provided me with this wireframe.

As you can see there is a lot going on with this site. I am going to confirm with the client that (in the blogs tab) they are thinking of one blog with filtering by category, author etc - so that’s all good.

My next question surrounds the following functionality (that I have inferred from the wire frame).
-The ability to (in the members ‘inbox’ to watch certain forum topics AND the posts of certain members
-the ability to show a percentage of how much information has been completed in the user profile

    Does this make sense?

Looking at it, I’m thinking both of those are going to take some custom work.  The ‘completed’ bit should be pretty easy.  I figure just query for the custom fields- or the ones required or whatever.  Make a ration of empty to those w/content and it’s good.  I can’t figure whether it would be better as a plugin or not- but it’s definitely custom.  And probably not hard.

The ‘connections’ bit is sounding to me like it would need a custom module.  Because they need a way to designate and control their ‘connections/buddies/etc’.  Unless you could just riff off of the existing buddy list in some way.  Would be simplest.

Make sense?  Neither looks ‘out of the box’- but both look doable.  And I think Solspace has some kind of buddy thing- member thing.  Er- something.  I haven’t checked that one out, but you might do a quick surf through and see if they have any modules that would allow you to take care of the extra member functions.

cheers for the reply. Other than Solspace, are there any other people developing modules/plugins for EE?

No, others do too.  I would recommend perusing the Pro Network for the web programming folks, and/or posting on our job board =)
