Mine had profile info over by default (well, BIO info), but not photo.

They suggested it was easy to do, but I never had them do it.

Exactly how did you integrate BlaB with EE?  I just purchased the chat software and need to integrate asap.

Contact the author at Blab and he should be able to help you out.  I found their support to be excellent.

Seconded - he was very prompt. He installed a trial account for me - did all the legwork integrating and set me p with a 30 day account. Once I purchased, he just switched the account details over for me.

Glad to hear Blab works, may take a look for a new project.

Sorry to revive a very old thread but I thought I’d add my recommendation for BlaB! as well.

I’m in the process of building a site related to a popular and growing MMORPG for the iPhone. One of the features I needed on the site was an integrated chat system that restricts participants to registered site members.

After reading the above reviews (and contacting a few of you—thank you!!) I downloaded BlaB! Lite (free), spoke briefly with the developer, Konstantin, regarding some configs, and then took the app for a test run.

As a result, I’ve decided to upgrade to their Enterprise version (75 Euros/approx $106 US).

    Pros for me were:

The app is easily installed and doesn’t alter any EE related tables in the dB
    EE Member Account/Member Groups integration
Themes can easily be modified or created from scratch
    Unlimited simultaneous connections
File and image uploading and sharing
The developer offered quick and accurate support
The developer offered additional assistance with EE integration if needed

More information about BlaB! can be found here:

Once the chat room is up and running, I’ll edit this post to include a link.

May I suggest you post a new article to this thread? That would make sure the thread is “unread” again for people who have seen it before.

Sounds interesting. Is this the only chat out there that can be integrated with EE?

Sorry Petri, I didn’t understand the question.

I use BlaB and it’s integrated with my member database so that only registered members can get into the chat rooms.

I’m not aware of any other chat software that would tie into EE as easily as BlaB.

Do you have online it now? Can i have a testdrive with it? And most of all, is it, after all, easy to set up, and what about the support - have you been happy client etc? Just asking these cos i might be interested to give some money away =)

    Thanks,

If there was a third party ‘Chat’ module for ExpressionEngine what features would you look for as a minimum?

    You ask me Nathan?
Well basicly the regular things like having all the EE fields within the chatters “info” window like avatar etc. And PM-chat is i think, i might need also. Multi-chat with max of 10 to 15 users is also something in my mind and chatrooms based on member group access only. (ie. admins only, members only and “top-clients” or “support” kinda things).

This was fast answer from me, cos i’m just starting to make brainstorm with this and thinking do chat serve users the way i might want after all. If you understand my point.

    Cheers

    Petri,

The site is online but it is for members only so I’m not able to let you test drive it. BlaB was very easy to set up and tie into EE. Support from the developer has been excellent but I didn’t really need it.

There is a “lite” version available for download though if you just want to play with it:

You may also want to compare the three versions available:

Nathan—I’ve been very happy with the features available in BlaB. The only thing I’d like to see added to those are better template/design management (i.e. simple EE template integration).
