    Epidemic

I developed a static HTML web site which has reached nearly 400 pages of content and it’s getting very difficult to update on a daily basis. I have to do everything manually and it gets very frustrating at times.

Is it possible to convert all those pages with different titles and content into EE - and if so how hard is it on a scale of 1-10 (10 being super hard)?

400 pages of content?  Agreed- it would be nice to have that in a CMS, and the sooner the better.  I’m not familiar with an automated way to do it.  Unless you’re generating rss feeds?  That would be doable.  And I’ve seen enough screen scrapers to say it would be possibly to custom code an automated option- assuming fairly uniform pages.  But in truth?  I’d either cut paste myself, or hire a couple of college kids to cut/paste it into EE.  Doubt it would take any longer or cost any more than having a custom script done.

I know one magazine site I’ve worked on imported 3 years worth of static back issues by hiring an India firm to copy/paste into MT format- then we just imported the text files (EE does have an MT Importer).  But we brute forced it to get it into MT format.

Does that help at all?  I mean- cut/paste isn’t hard (1 on a scale of 10) once the backend is setup intelligently.  But it would be tedious.
