    Hello Everybody.

I have a list of questions about ee.
A client of mine wants a website for company networking.

Now I am wondering if expression engine can handle the requested features.

    The features are:

1.Payed membership(I know about aMember so that is probably the way to go)
2.Members have a private page with their promotional talk on it and some pictures. Other members have to be able to place reactions there.(or maybe somekind of rating system like e-bay has).
    3.Forum.
4.Advertisement system. With banners that can be shown for a certain period.
5.Calender function for events and all.
    6.Information database.
7.Members have to be able to search for other members when the need a certain kind of company.
8.Mailing list system. (I have seen the Mailing system in Expression engine, but is it possible to have something like weblogs connected to the templates, so you have a more extended mailing.(From what i have seen it’s just the message you can place in the template, not even images, correct me if I am wrong.))

Are all of these features possible with expression engine? Especially 2 and 7 are very crucial.

    Thanks for the reactions 😊

#2 There really isn’t a good way to accomplish this in EE. It can be done but its not a “feature’ so to speak. Before going much further you might review EE’s License as hosted services aren’t allowed. In other words, if you want to provide web space to autonomous 3rd parties, that’s not allowed.

Assuming you are within the bounds of a license Solspace has a ratings module available for EE.

No we are not going to provide webspace to others. Its more like a personal advertisement for their company. That doesnt even come close to providing webspace. Maybe its enough to let them show a certian portion of their profile and have people react to that? Do you have more deatails about that issue?

    Hi Sanity11,

Sounds like you’re okay by the license. Though there really isn’t a straight-forward way to accomplish #2. Its certainly possible but you’ll have to do some digging into EE and the various resources to get you want and it might require some custom code.

Ok, hopefully it works without custom coding. hehe.

Is there anybody that knows a little more about the mailing module. I I right that it’s only possible to have text in it? (with a template)

The Mailing List Module can also handle HTML based emails.

    Hi Leslie,

I know, but for endusers it’s not so easy to create them.
It would be better if somebody can ad texts to a mailing with something like a weblog 😊
