My blog designer’s site is gone. The business is (from what I can tell) gone as well. Do I continue to link/credit what is no more? Do I remove the link and logo? Do I link their personal blog without permission? Keep the logo, but without the dead link? (I have asked the designer for direction, but with no response)

    What would you do?

Did you pay for the design?

Unless specified in a contract, you’re free to tweak your design to your heart’s content. 😊

I’d suggest emailing the designer first about it first, if the email bounces back then you have proof that the business is gone (to your best knowledge!), and can remove the link. After all, a dead link on your site is not a good thing. If any contractural issues ever arise you will have proof that you tried to contact them (the email) and putting a link back if you have to is not a big deal.

Putting a designer’s link on a site is at the client’s discretion, if not in contract.
