I love EE. I am so addicted that I like to check in on the forums when I am out and about from my phone. Only one problem. I can access the site but I cannot reply or start a new post. The buttons that are used for those items are not selectable on my Verizon Motorola Q.

Is this a big deal? NO! Would I love it if you would fix it? Yeah!  😉 But I understand. I will just have to continue reading and then reply when I get home.

But on the off chance that you did not know that this was happening I just wanted to share…

Do you have any idea why those buttons are not selectable / clickable on your phone?  Have you tried using one of the other themes?  I know it’s not ideal, but if you can modify the URL directly on your phone, you can always just change “viewthread” to “newreply”.

Derek, why is it that when I disable styles in Firefox on the forum that the Profile, PM, Fast Reply etc are all text? That is what is causing my issue… Looking at the code there is not a hyperlink in those elements. They are currently being handled via the javascript. I would imagine that has something to do with it…

Which brings up an interesting issue. If I disable styles I can’t navigate the site really… that would be a big uh oh to me..

Yes, most of the default forum themes require Javascript.  Does your mobile browser not support Javascript?  Or does it just not support clicking anything but links?  You can try the Shares theme if you like, I believe it uses links in the markup for the buttons.

I was not aware that I had the ability to view this forum in anything but the default theme?

OK so back on my computer… That theme worked.. but I get a handler could not be attached error when I open the page on my phone…

I should have warned you I spent several years as a performance and requirements tester for the DoD prior to making the move to web design…  😉

And even more importantly why is Shares the only theme that embeds a hyperlink in those items?

Does the phone support Javascript?  Fully?

The behavior and styling on the other forum themes use nested divs with Javascript to handle both the rollover effect and the link.  I didn’t create that original markup myself so I can’t comment on why that implementation was specifically chosen, but it’s not uncommon.
