    Tonight I updated both my build of EE to the latest version and my Forum to the latest build as well. I have a modified version of the developer template running my forums, and so I had to so a bit of code work as per the instructions at “Forum Update Notes 2.0”. After completing the process I went back to discover that my forum pages were all now completely blank pages, as was my efforts to view or edit forum templates via the Module admin area.

    After a restore of my old template files and a step by step redo, I discovered that the instructions may be incorrect.
    In the section on Search Results near the end of this page
    http://expressionengine.com/docs/modules/forum/forum_update_notes_2.0.html
    we read

    Additionally, there are some new templates that you need to add. You will have to edit the /themes/forum_themes/theme_name/theme_search.php file directly for this addition. Just before:

    }
    // END CLASS
    ?>

    Add the following: (long block of new code here…)

    When I looked at a fresh version of the developer template from the new Forum build, I found that in fact, we would need to add the code just before

    //-------------------------------------
    //  No Search Result Message
    //-------------------------------------

    in order to match the newest Forum template. This is one block of code above the location indicated in the instructions.
    When I did it this way instead of following the instructions, my forums came back into view and everything seems to be working…

    Whew!
    I thought others would want to know of my experience.  Not sure if this is a bug report or an installation issue, so I posted it here.

    I’m not sure if it’s a bug report either- wonder if it could possibly vary by template?  In either case, thanks for the heads up on it!  I’ll give the dev crew a yell and then move as appropriate.
