I have MSM installed with a main site, and a second site. Everything works with this single exception. Both sites are offline, I’m able to view the first site as superadmin, but not the second. I have set the cookies domain to both domains, 1 domain, blank. Always the same result.

    I’m running 1.6 build 20070815.

MC Sneato, have you tried logging into the control panel of the second domain? I normally set everything to cookies only, so the cookies for both sites work.

No, I haven’t masked the control panel for the second domain. Is there a direct way to logon to the second domain without doing that? I will switch to just cookies, and see if that makes a difference.

Switching to just cookies did not help.

There is a file called admin.php that is found in the utilities directory. Whenever I create an MSM or add-on domain, I place that file in the same directory as the index.php and path.php files.

    So to login to domain #2, I go here;

    http://www.domain2.com/admin.php

    Did that make sense?

Yup, I understand that, I didn’t think that was necessary though.

It’s not, but this way the cookies can get set correctly.

Hmmm, I’m not able to login to the second site that way. Although from the url it looks like it is using sessions when I said just cookies.

You need to set that up for both sites. Also you need to set the cookies for the second site as well.

I have it set for both sites, including cookies but the second site does not let me login.

Ok, I’m able to login to the second site at mydomain.com/admin.php But I don’t have the option to view rendered template on that site, just the main site.

Is your second site set up yet?

Have you identified any weblogs, templates, etc. for that site?

Ok, I have it working I guess. The the problem with the second site not giving the option to show rendered template was due to not referencing the themes folder correctly in the general configuration. I have to either point it to the main site themes folder, or I’m assuming I could copy the themes folder over the to second site also.

I guess I didn’t think I would need to duplicate so many things.

It also seems counter productive to have to login to each site to make this work. I should be able to do everything from one login.

Am I opening up security risks disabling sessions and having multiple copies of the admin file?

    Thanks for your help Sue.

Once you cookie into that second site, you should be OK.

I normally do cookies only and have multiple admin.php files for each add-on domain. That’s how it works. 😊

Sue, are you using multiple config.php files also? I’m using just one, and if I change the cp path to the second site I’m able to login to the second site, but then not the first and vice versa.
